Our Work

Specialist underwater services for infrastructure, marine assets and environmental projects.

Commercial Water Dive provides professional underwater inspection, maintenance, recovery, scientific support and technical diving services across South West Western Australia. We work in challenging environments where safety, reliability, clear reporting and practical outcomes are critical.

Our team supports asset owners, operators, government agencies, marine businesses and project managers with dependable in-water capability across a wide range of project types. Whether the task involves inspection, cleaning, recovery, sampling or specialist underwater support, we deliver services that are methodical, well-documented and aligned with client requirements.

We understand that many underwater works are carried out on essential infrastructure, operational assets and environmentally sensitive sites. That is why our approach is always focused on safety, planning, communication and quality from start to finish.

Representative Projects

Dam Safety Inspection

Scope: Comprehensive underwater inspection of a regional dam structure including concrete face, joints, spillway apron and intake tower. Full photographic and video documentation of all accessible submerged surfaces.

Deliverables: Detailed inspection report with georeferenced HD photography and video, condition grading for all structural elements, and prioritised maintenance recommendations. Report prepared to support dam safety review requirements.

Outcome: Inspection identified early-stage joint deterioration and minor concrete spalling requiring preventative maintenance, enabling the client to schedule targeted repairs before the next wet season.

Pipeline Intake Inspection and Cleaning

Scope: Underwater inspection and marine growth removal on raw water intake structure and associated pipeline. CCTV survey of pipeline interior to assess condition and identify blockages.

Deliverables: Video inspection report, marine growth removal completion record, and pipeline condition assessment with recommendations for anode replacement and protective coating maintenance.

Outcome: Cleaning restored full flow capacity to the intake. Pipeline survey confirmed structural integrity with localised coating breakdown requiring scheduled maintenance.

Search and Recovery Operation

Scope: Systematic underwater search and recovery of a submerged vehicle from a regional waterway. Operation conducted in coordination with WA Police and local emergency services.

Deliverables: Search plan, operational log, in-situ photography and documentation, safe vehicle recovery using lift bags and crane support, and chain-of-custody records for all recovered items.

Outcome: Vehicle located within four hours of search commencement using side-scan sonar. Recovery completed safely with full environmental containment of fuel and fluids.

Jetty Pile Inspection Program

Scope: Condition inspection of 120+ timber and steel piles on a regional jetty structure. Assessment of marine borer damage, corrosion, structural cracking and scour around pile bases.

Deliverables: Pile-by-pile condition report with photographic evidence, condition grading matrix, and prioritised repair and replacement recommendations integrated with the client’s asset management system.

Outcome: Inspection data enabled the client to develop a staged pile replacement program, extending the serviceable life of the jetty while managing capital expenditure across multiple budget cycles.

Scientific Field Support and Water Sampling

Scope: Dive support for an environmental consulting firm conducting baseline water quality monitoring across multiple estuarine and nearshore sites. Collection of water column samples at specified depths, deployment of sampling equipment and in-situ field measurements.

Deliverables: Sample collection logs with GPS coordinates, depth records and field observations. Samples handled, labelled and stored in accordance with NATA chain-of-custody requirements. Daily field reports provided to the lead consultant.

Outcome: All samples collected within the required timeframes and delivered to the laboratory in compliant condition. Fieldwork completed on schedule despite variable weather and tidal conditions, supporting the client’s regulatory reporting obligations.
